AKEMA: Alaska Emergency Management Association

Thanks to Bethany Buckingham at the Wasilla Museum for sending me a redesign project for AKEMA, the Alaska Emergency Management Association. “The Alaska Emergency Management Association (AKEMA) is an emergency management nonprofit organization consisting of public sector, private industry, other nonprofits, and specialty agency partners. AKEMA offers a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) credentialing program to help individuals in Alaska’s emergency management community achieve their professional goals.”

The only available version of the logo for the current board was a smooshed oval instead of a circle – not the professional look they wanted. Logo redesign goals included:

• Reformatting to an undistorted circle
• Updated typography
• Vectorization
• Legibility at various sizes
• Conversion to an embroidery format
• Simple brand guidelines for how to use (and not use) the updated version
