japanese stab stitch books with hand marbled paper

| | |

Stab stitch / side stitch books made in the Japanese tradition with hand-marbled paper, solarprint, plastic canvas, vellum, and waxed cotton thread.

Books with bright-colored marbling are watercolor marbling inks; the subdued colors are suminagashi, or traditional Japanese-style paper marbling.  Special thanks to Beccamakingfaces for the snowflake and Albuquerque designs.

Read more about Sunprint paper from my earlier post here and here. Interesting in making hand-bound books? Check out A Buncha Book Artists here for upcoming meeting times.
